Florida work search
Florida Work Search Log: Record Example
See a fictional Florida work-search contact with the details FloridaCommerce asks for. Check your own Reconnect instructions and keep a separate personal record.
For a Florida Reemployment Assistance claim, record each required work-search contact with its date, method, employer or contact details, type of work sought and result. FloridaCommerce describes these fields in its claimant guidance. Check the requirement shown for your own claim and enter required activity through the state's Reconnect process when requesting benefits. A private log is preparation, not a state submission.12
Start with one complete fictional contact
This is a made-up example for showing the fields, not an activity anyone should claim to have completed. Cedar Point Services, the role and the date are fictional. The website uses example.com and is not a real vacancy. Enter a real contact only after you actually make it. FloridaCommerce asks for the date and method of contact, contact information, type of work sought and result.1
The result says only what the applicant can know at submission. An application sent online is an action; an interview or rejection would be a later outcome. Keep any confirmation or screenshot you genuinely received with your own records, and do not manufacture one when there was none.
The example shows how to prepare information. It does not document a real work search or send anything to FloridaCommerce.

Capture the details Florida asks for
FloridaCommerce's claimant FAQ lists the date of contact, how contact was made, the business name and contact details, the result and the type of work sought.1 Copy details from the actual employer page or conversation. A website address may identify an online contact; a telephone or physical address may be relevant for another method. Do not fill an unknown person or result with a guess.
Record the benefit week separately from the date of each action. This helps you place a contact in the correct week when you review your claim. A personal notebook or tracker can hold more detail than you enter in the state system, but check the current Reconnect questions for the information FloridaCommerce actually requests.2
For a phone call, note whom you reached and what they said if you know. For an online application, capture the employer, role, application URL or contact route, submission date and the outcome visible to you. If a reply comes later, add that as a later event rather than rewriting history.
- Write the date you completed the contact, not the date you planned it.
- Record the employer or service and a genuine contact route.
- Name the type of work you sought and the method you used.
- Describe the result you know, including 'no reply yet' when accurate.
Check the requirement for your claim
Florida's general work-search rules have exceptions. FloridaCommerce's FAQ discusses different circumstances, including certain temporary layoffs, approved training and union hiring halls.1 Do not decide that you are exempt from a short blog summary. Your claim notice and Reconnect dashboard show the instructions that matter for your case; ask FloridaCommerce if those instructions appear inconsistent.
An employer contact is not the same thing as every step in a job search. Reading postings, saving a draft and submitting an application are different actions. The state describes qualifying work-search contacts and some alternative CareerSource activities.2 When unsure whether a particular action counts, use the state's current guidance before relying on it for a benefit week.
Do not copy a sample number of activities from another person's log. Record the actions you truly completed in the week the state asks about. The number and type required for your claim should come from the state's current instructions.
Prepare your record, then use Reconnect
FloridaCommerce directs claimants to request benefit payments through Reconnect and provide work-search information in that process.2 A private spreadsheet, paper note or ApplyBrio entry is not a request for payment and does not transmit contacts to the state. Open the official state service from FloridaCommerce's page rather than treating a third-party tool as a filing portal.
Compare your private record against the state's questions before you submit. If you used a website, make sure you can identify the actual employer or service and the contact method. If a field is unclear, consult the official instructions. Keep a copy of your own truthful notes and any evidence you have, especially if you need to answer a later question about a contact.
Do not mark an entry as reported simply because it appears in your personal log. After using Reconnect, record the submission state accurately in your own notes. If the state asks for correction or additional information, follow the official request.
Use ApplyBrio for personal organization
ApplyBrio's job search log stores an activity date, employer, role, action, outcome, evidence reference and optional follow-up date in your personal workspace. It can export CSV or print your record. Those fields help you recall what happened across applications. They do not certify that an activity meets Florida's rules.
For Florida reporting, compare every entry with the contact details FloridaCommerce requests and transfer required information through the official state process.12 Keep the original evidence separately when possible. A CSV export or printout from ApplyBrio is your own record, not proof that FloridaCommerce received it.
