The second version names the task, the setting and the contribution. This is a fictional example: only use a claim when it describes something you actually did.

Make your experience concrete

A resume built around education and projects

New graduates can place education before work experience. Include your school and credential, and label a future graduation date as expected. Relevant coursework or a project can help explain what you have learned.1

  1. Contact

    Add your name, email, phone and city and state. The builder leaves out a photo and date of birth.

  2. Education

    Enter your degree or other credential, school and dates. Choose education first if it is the strongest starting point.

  3. Experience

    Describe relevant jobs, internships and responsibilities. The projects field gives you room for work from a class or personal project.

  4. Review

    Read the job posting alongside your draft. Keep claims accurate and follow the employer’s file-format and application instructions.
